About a month ago, Dane and I headed down to Provo with my mom to visit McCall. On our way home, we stopped by to visit my Grandpa who lives in a nursing care facility. I really hate seeing him in that place, it just makes me sad. But that's besides the point. He has suffered from Alzheimers for many years now, and is definitely on the down hill side of things. It's sooo hard to see. But, I wanted him to meet Dane, so we made the visit.
I'm glad Dane got to meet his only living great-grandpa. He's been a wonderful grandpa to me, and I know that I'll have that same grandpa again someday.
Grandpa, I love you!

I used to volunteer and work with Alzheimers patients. They were so special to me. There was one who I became really close with (I know she recognized me from time to time). Her daughter asked me to speak at her funeral. It was a real honor.
I'm sure your grandpa loved a visit from you and in his heart it was special to have you and Dane there.
I know how it is to watch a grandparent suffer from this awful disease- my grandmother had it as well. I bet your grandpa was delighted to have you guys there with him, even though he may not have been able to express it. I miss you by the way! I met a girl the other night who knew you and I totally forgot her name but she is in my ward so I will find out again to tell you =)
Good for you! Those pics of grandparents with kids are priceless. I don't have a single picture with any of my grandparents. It kinda breaks my heart...not that I had living grandparents by the time I was around. Anyway, way to capture that moment.
