State Fair

Seriously ENORMOUS bull: Big Red. We had a hard time getting a good picture with the front end...

Brock and I decided that we wanted to make it a family tradition to go to the fair every year. We wanted to do that, because we thought Dane would LOVE looking at all the animals. We were right. We had such a great time, and were even blessed with the company of my dear friend Liz, and her husband Michael (who we are still getting to know, but who must be equally amazing since he snagged Lizzy).

Dane loves to "wok, wok" now that he is a big boy. I just love this pic!
Dane wanted to touch all the animals, though he was a little unsure about them. Inquisitive, yet cautious.
Love him!
Lizzy and Michael with Daner. They'll be such great parents to their own little boy who will be coming in less than a month! Love having friends for Dane!
I saw this huge tractor on our way out of the fair, and just had to get a picture of Dane sitting in the wheel. He was not really sure what he thought about that idea at first, but we finally scored a DARLING picture of him. (After, may I add, the huge crowd gathered around to watch the whole production.)
The first picture he's signing "Please" (he wanted to get down). The second pic, he thought he'd just try and take matters into his own hands. The third one he's finally starting to realize it's kinda cool. Then finally, VICTORY!!! Isn't that the cutest picture ever?!?

Father knows best

Brock started a new job on Monday. Such a happy, happy day!

Back in April, Brock was put to "half-time" at his previous place of employment. He worked for that company for over 5 years, but there just wasn't enough business to keep anyone at a full-time status. He mostly hovered around 20 hours for the first few months, but the last little while was pretty hairy. There were many weeks where he only had 5-8 hours of work. A little hard to support a family on those kind of hours, to be sure. Brock started looking for a new job quite aggressively as soon as he received the news back in April. He turned in many resumes, contacted many people, and filled out many applications. How many interviews did he score from April to September, you might ask? One. Yep, one. And that company decided to put off on hiring anyway.

Heavenly Father definitely watches out for us, even if the blessings don't come exactly as we want. Though we prayed like crazy every day, multiple times a day, that Brock would get a new job quickly, that just wasn't what His plan had in store for us. However, He did not just leave us in the dust. We have been so, so blessed during this time of financial struggle. We have always felt the importance of following the council of the prophets, and have stocked up on food storage. We also received quite a bit more on our tax returns than we were planning on, so our savings was nice and totally there for us when we needed it most. Thankfully, we have been able to pay all our bills, and have had plenty of food to eat, though by looking at the money coming in, you would wonder how that was possible.

We have also been the grateful recipients of the kindness and generosity of others. It is truly humbling to think about all the answers to prayers we have received through the inspired acts of His angels here on earth. So many of you have been those angels, and words will never be able to express how we feel about you. "Thank You" seems so trite. Hopefully we can be in tune to the promptings of the Spirit, and be that angel for someone else. Thank Heaven for family and friends-who-may-as-well-be-family!

I have learned much about patience, faith, and miracles. Yes, miracles do happen still today. We have seen them during this trial. If God would have taken the trial away from us when we first asked him to, we would have missed out on the incredible opportunity to witness, and be a part of those miracles. God allows us to learn and grow, and though we all have to deal with different difficulties in order to get where He wants us, He NEVER leaves us alone. He provides a way for us to be strengthened in our trials that we may bear them instead of being crushed by them. I absolutely KNOW this to be true. He loves us. Always. No. Matter. What.

At the beginning of the month, just as I was having a nervous breakdown about our financial situation, and wondering how much longer we could possibly hold on to the fraying knot at the end of our rope, Brock was blessed with a slew of interviews. They seemed to be coming out of nowhere. One in particular was obtained through a friend, who immediately thought of Brock when a job opening became available at his place of employment. This just "happened" to be at a company that Brock had previously looked into, and really wanted to work for. Ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom, three interviews later, he had a new job. It took one week. Yep, one.

I totally cried when he got off that phone call. Cried like a baby. I'm not sure how many times I'm going to have to be reminded in my life that Heavenly Father is in charge. When we allow Him to take the reigns, He gives us EXACTLY what we need to succeed in this life, and reap the rewards in the life to come. Father really does know best.

Overload

I am finally getting caught up on the wonderful world of blogging. There are quite a few posts today. Scroll down if you wish.
If not, we'll catch you next time :)

Summer Lovin' Happened SO Fast!!!

Summer went by way too fast this year! We had a great time getting together with friends (though not as often as we would have liked), family (sometimes more often than we would have liked--Just kidding!), and especially enjoying each other. Here are some pics from our summer fun activities.
(These are in no particular order)

Dane's first Birthday

Family Reunion

Cherry Hill

Demolition Derby

Camping

Bountiful 24th of July Carnival
(Dane won a frog at the Fishy Pond)
Bountiful 24th of July Parade

Feeding the Ducks

Dane loves animals. We haven't yet met one he's not totally fascinated by. We decided a few weeks ago that we would take him to feed some ducks. We went out by the airport, and found this huge gathering, that even included a few geese (kind of creepy looking birds, if you get up close. That nob on their nose is a little disconcerting.)

These ducks were not in the slightest afraid of humans. We walked up and they came a flocking (literally). We tried to spread the love with our half loaf of Wonderbread (not sure why when I was a child I enjoyed that bread so much...it's awful!) Dane was a little unsure about them getting so close, but he loved it, and so did we!
Dane getting used to all the birdies.

Still a little unsure...
Taking some time to feed himself

Now he's getting the hang of it!

Then and Now

*If you can't read the tiny writing on the pictures:
in the left picture, I was 20 weeks pregnant with Dane.
The right picture was taken on Saturday, at 21 weeks with baby girl.

*I weigh now what I weighed at 14 weeks with Dane.

*At 22 weeks with Dane, I had gained a *gulp* whopping 15 lbs
With Baby girl, at 21 weeks, I've only gained 5
I'm eating a LOT healthier this time, and I'm still running
(not to mention I'm chasing after an incredibly active 15 month old every day).

*Yes, I chopped my hair, and No, this is not the best picture of the haircut, but Dane happened to get ahold of the camera, and erased the good one. I promise a good one soon. Don't judge it by this picture alone...

Island Park & Yellowstone

My family went to one of the most beautiful places on earth a month, or so ago. If only blogging were more of a priority....*sigh*. It was not Dane's first time to Island Park. In fact, I think this was the 4th time he has been in his 14 months of life. But it was his first time to Yellowstone. We saw lots of elk, were the closest I have ever been to a moose, and had a VERY close encounter with a buffalo, as it wandered down the middle of the street. Dane loved watching the birds--especially the big crows, and searching for squirrels.

Dane loved feeding the fish, and the squirrels. (though it mostly consisted of you handing him bread, and him shoving it in his own mouth--cute little squishy!) It is just so much fun to see things through the eyes of a child. Everything becomes so much more exciting. He LOVED the waterfalls, and even learned to say "Wow" as he was looking at them. He wasn't all that interested in sitting and waiting for Old Faithful to go off. He just wanted to be on the move. But once it started spouting that super hot water, he was mesmerized.

This is one of my favorite pictures. He LOVES his Grandpa and Grandma! Thanks SO much, Mom and Dad for a wonderful little getaway!

Goodbye Grandpa

Harold LeRoy B.

1924 ~ 2009

Harold LeRoy B. passed away on August 26, 2009, at the Heritage Care Center in American Fork, Utah. Harold was born on July 5, 1924, in Cedar City, Utah, to Norman and Martha Irene B. He married May Dalton on July 19, 1942. Less than a year later, and 3 months before his first son, Mike, was to be born, Harold was serving his country in the United States Army. After training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was assigned to an Artillery Unit in the Philippines. Harold received numerous decorations for his service before being discharged in 1946, following his release from the Army Hospital in Manila.

In the early 1950s, Harold and May moved to Provo, Utah, where they raised their young family. Harold spent most of his professional life working in the insurance industry and in real estate, including serving for many years as the State Manager for Combined Insurance Company in Utah and Nevada. Harold also served in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and with local service groups and organizations in the area. Everywhere he served was better when he left than when he started. On August 21, 1979, Harold and May were sealed to each other in the Salt Lake Temple. Following May's death in 1980, Harold met Sandra Kay Fischer, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple.

Sandy survives him after 29 years of marriage. Harold also is survived by all of his children, Michael L., Gold Coast, Australia; Larry D. (Linda), Woodland Hills, Utah; Myrna (Doug) Livingston, Provo, Utah; Gregory N. (Nancy), Bountiful, Utah; and Bradley M. (Trudy), Payson, Utah, as well 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He also is survived by 3 brothers Ross, Ken and Elmer and 1 sister Velma Halls, and was preceded in death by 2 brothers Chett and Oscar, and 1 sister Viola.

Our love and thanks to all who have been part of Harold's life, and the lives of his family.

After many years of sickness, Grandpa was called home this week. Such an amazing man. Now he can shine again. His brain and body can finally keep up again with his unstoppable spirit. He's with Grandma May again, and I know he is happy. It's always sad to loose someone you love, even when you know it is for the best. I am SO grateful for the gospel, and the knowledge I have that families really can be together forever. I will see my Grandpa B again.
