It's Potty Time!

For the past 3 weeks, we've been working on potty training. Let it be known, that I was the one dragging my feet on getting this party started. Dane has been interested since before Campbell was born, but I just couldn't muster up the desire to potty train with a newborn. It finally got to the point that I couldn't think of any more excuses, and decided to take advantage of his desire before it went away.

He has been doing awesome with #1! We even went out of town this past weekend, and he stayed dry on our drive up to Jackson, through our hike, and also through our bike ride. (Not consecutively, mind you) I'm really proud of how great he's done. Such a big boy!

Unfortunately we have some troubles with #2. In the three weeks we have been working on this, we have only had 3 successes. I've even bought presents to provide some incentive, but it just isn't working. I'm at a loss. I need some pointers from those of you who are more experienced than I am.
Any thoughts?

I decorated a way cute potty treat jar for Boston. filled it w his favorite treats and every time he goes he gets a piece of candy. He was obsessed w it for a few weeks and it helped a ton. I was super nervous to start this potty thing too . We also bribed w bigger stuff like a tractor he wanted. That worked too. Now he has no problem w #2 but #1 he is so lazy about so I have to make him go. Good luck it's so fun huh!!

I already posted on your facebook but we used ice cream with McKaylee. Just a tiny bit until she wasn't scared anymore. After every meal we would sit her on the toilet and give her little bites of ice cream. If she didn't get after about 10 min then we would constantly remind her that she needed to go #2 in the big girl potty. When she finally went on the toilet we totally celebrated and then gave her her own little bowl of ice cream. After the 3rd time of going #2 on her own we downgraded the treat to a fruit snack until we just got rid of the treats all together

potty treats were my number one best thing while potty training Macie. It is so hard, just know that it will happen... one day.
Be patient, it is hard on them too. And good luck.

Boys are a different animal all together, so I'm going to defer to others. It's tricky. Best of luck...he is a genius, so it'll happen.
